Merkur Wheel Hub Bearing Assembly
Merkur Wheel Hub
Call it Merkur wheel hub or Merkur wheel hub bearing, at WheelHubPros.com, we have the correct one in stock for your car. The Merkur wheel hub bearing is a very important car part yet it often gets overlooked. Considering the fact that your Merkur wheel hub bearing is the only part that connects the wheels to the car body, it should never be overlooked. Couple that with the reason behind car accident - distractions are the second most common cause of car accidents (drunk driving is number one),. You want to make sure your Merkur wheel hub is performing well, free of any mechanical distractions.
Distractions are often a result of a faulty Merkur wheel hub bearing. A bad Merkur wheel hub bearing can cause phantom noises or ghost vibrations at sporadic points during the drive. Many people respond by checking the brakes, struts, and springs. If they do not find any issues with those parts, they move on, chalking up the distractions to the car's "old age." In reality, changing the Merkur wheel hub bearing often fixes the issue. By the time the average car hits 90k miles, the brakes have a been changed a few times and hopefully the tires. However, chances are the Merkur wheel hub bearings have gone uninspected. This is a frightening trend considering 70% of all car accidents are avoidable. As a driver, you want the Merkur wheel hub you drive on to be in the best mechanical shape possible to avoid being a statistic. A driver's ability to manuver the car out of harm's way is paramount and the ability is only limited by the car's mechanical health - the Merkur wheel hub is a big part of it.

Merkur means mercury in German. The name is perfectly
indicative of Ford's mindset when releasing Merkur models to Lincoln/Mercury
dealerships. Merkur models were premium European models based out of
Germany - essentially, a German Mercury. Ford pushed the European heritage
blatantly. Merkur's place of manufacture was very visible on the car
sticker. Needless to say, Merkur was Ford's attempt at selling European
cars in the North American market. And European , they were. Nothing
on the American roads even remotely resembled a Merkur. The company had
two models, the Merkur XR4Ti and the Merkur Scorpio. The XR was on sale
from 1985 to 1989 while the Scorpio was on sale for only a year, 1988-1989.
The design philosophy behind both models was inherently European. They
were both mid size hatchbacks. The Merkur XR was a 3 door hatchback (with
two spoilers, nonetheless) and the Scorpio was a 5 door hatchback.
